Changing the Trajectory of your Family

For you who just clicked on this blog, my hopes are that you are a person who cares about your finances, your family's finances, and even the generational finances of your grandchildren. My desire is that you are reading this blog to figure out how you can change the whole trajectory of your generational finances. Maybe you come from a impoverished home that stuggled to get by. Maybe you come from a middle-class home. Nevertheless, the principle that I am going to give in this blog is able to revolutionize whatever situation you might find yourself in. The principle is this: Buy assests before expenses.

For some this might sound simple. Others may have never heard of this before. Here is the basics of the principle. Buy things that are going to make you money before things that are going to take your money. This seems pretty simple, right? Most people in America miss it though. Most people are swimming in credit card debt, student loans, and/or car payments where they own more than what the car is worth. These are bad debts. These are expenses.

What if instead of investing in a brand new car that lost $20k in value once you drove it off the lot, you bought a house. The difference between the two purchases is massive! The car depreciates in value. The home appreciates in value. In two years, that car will probably be worth 1/5 of what you paid for it and the home will be worth $10,000s of dollars more.

Now I am not saying never buy a new car. But the order matters. Buy things that increase in value first, then buy the expenses second. Most of America flips this order though. Most people buy the expenses first and then never have enough money to buy assests and they struggle all their lives. Then they hand it down to their children and grandchildren. The pattern must stop! Someone must stand up to change the trajectory of your family. Someone must care. Thus, if you want to change the trajectory of your finances, your family's finances, and your grandchildren's, then buy your assests first. It will change the whole game.
