I am writing to turn your world on its head. You might be successful or your might not be. Either way, I am going to give you the 5 Laws of Success that I have learned. However, here is the catch: I am going to give you them for FREE - as long as you promise to DO them. Do we have a deal?
Since you have continued reading, I am going to accept that action as your pledge to DO these laws and not just read about them. Thus, we shall continue.
Law 1: The Law of Value
There are two kinds of people/businesses. First, there are those that try to make the most money while providing the minimum amount of value. Then, there are those that try to provide the most amount of value as possible. You ought to be the latter. The law of value is this: “Your true worth is determined by how much more you give in value than you take in payment" (The Go-Giver). Your value is directly related to how much value you give rather than the payment you recieve. The secret is the impact you have on people. The people you do business with ought to walk away feeling like you have just blessed them with the best Christmas gift ever. If you focus on offering value, then everything else will workout. If you bless them, then they will keep coming to you and they will bring others. They will be your biggest fans. But you have to mean it.
Law 2: The Law of Compensation
Most people make the mistake of focusing on money, and particularly "how much" money they can make with the least amount of impact - that is with the "least amount of people served." But that mindset has it all wrong. Not only should we aim to offer the most value to each person (Law 1), but we should also aim to give that value to the MOST amount of people - that is Law 2. “Your income is determined by how many people you serve and how well you serve them" (The Go-Giver). In essence, focus on giving value to as many people as you reasonably can, and you will be compensated accordingly. Or, in other words, your compensation will be directly proportional to how much value you give (Law 1) and how many people you bless with it (Law 2). Thus, if you want to make more money, scale your thing that gives value so that more can enjoy it.
Law 3: The Law of Influence
“Your influence is determined by how abundantly you place other people's interests first" (The Go-Giver). In other words, once you prioritize giving value, your influence will naturally grow. You will bless others and they will tell others. Slowly your influence will grow as your consider others' interests as more valueable than your own. Life and business does not have to be a dog-eat-dog world! It can be a world of kindness and generousity. But ultimately it starts with you. If you are greedy, then your orbit will pull in greedy people; but if your are generous and caring of others, then you will attrack similar people. That is influence.
Law 4: The Law of Authenticity
“The most valuable gift you have to offer is yourself" (The Go-Giver). God has designed you with unique gifts and a unique calling. Embrace who you are and be that. Do not try to be someone else or change all the time or try to fake some persona. Be yourself. Embrace yourself. Use your unique giftings.
Law 5: The Law of Receptivity
As you are focusing on the first four laws, you must always stay humble. You must not think of yourself more highly than you are. As you are seeking to bless others with value, you must to be willing to receive a blessing from others. This is the law of receptivity: “The key to effective giving is to stay open to receiving" (The Go-Giver). And just a warning, this gets more difficult along the road of success. So master it now and check yourself often. Don't always pay for the bill of others because sometimes you are robbing them of their blessing for blessing you. Be willing to recieve. Stay humble.
